A few weeks ago John and I rented a car and drove to New York City with some friends. Oh boy did we take advantage of having three days to eat our hearts out! Last year we spent a week in New York and made a good dent in the vegan food scene, but didn’t even come close to trying all the hot spots. There are just so many vegan joints and more are popping up all the time, like Champs Family Bakery (176 Ainslie St, Brooklyn, NY 11211) which opened since we last visited. We ventured across the bridge and met up with some friends to feast on a sugary selection of Champs’ baked goods including cinnamon buns (best ever!), bear claws, donuts and cheesecake brownies.

Whether you celebrate Easter or not, I think it’s hard to avoid getting excited about all of the new Easter themed vegan treats that are available this year. While in New York City, John and I picked up The Good Egg by Rescue Chocolate. This cream-filled egg was stuffed with delicious creamy chocolate. As usual, 100% of Rescue Chocolate’s proceeds go to animal rescue causes.
We also have some of Chicago Soydairy’s Dandies Tweets to enjoy this weekend. We picked up a bag of these bunny-shaped orange marshmallows while in Syracuse, NY at Strong Hearts Cafe. They are really yummy but I’d recommend eating only half a bunny at a time to avoid going into a sugar comma.
Over the long weekend I’m going to catch up on some blog writing and next week I’ll be sharing the story of all our NYC eats. Happy long weekend!
I haven’t been blogging much lately but it’s not be because I’ve lost interest or been feeling lazy. John and I have been working hard behind the scenes on Vegan Cuts, our weekly deal website for vegan products. Today we launched our first deal with Moxie Organix. For a limited time, Vegan Cuts members can buy Moxie’s Mini Fav’s Kit for 40% off. Regularly priced at $20, you can now buy this travel-sized skin care kit for $12 + shipping (available in the U.S. and Canada). Head on over to Vegan Cuts to learn more about purchasing this deal.
I’d love to hear any feedback or suggestions you may have for Vegan Cuts. Let me know what you think…
Last weekend John and I drove to New York City with some friends to check out the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival and explore more of the local vegan restaurant and bakery scene. We visited NYC in April 2010 but didn’t get close to trying all of the popular vegan spots.
Last Sunday we woke up early and headed to Veg Fest where we spent the day talking to all of the lovely food and drink vendors, listening to presentations by vegan superstars, and chatting with other vegans.
