I just moved to Hong Kong 8 weeks ago and it was nice to see another vegan's point of view. I have had a hard time finding vegan food here in regular restaurants and the Asian view of vegan is very different then the US. I am learning a lot though....I can add that CitySuper, Great, Taste and Oliver's have great options in finding vegan and vegetarian food. All the organic healthy food is mixed in with the others. Green dot dot and Organic land are also 2 great health food store options. I may also add that they are little vegetarian/vegan shops everywhere - its just a point in trying to find them.

Interesting about the 7-11 being the place to get vegan stuff. Never would have guessed it. Bringing back memories of China a bit with that big Buddha.

My husband is from Hong Kong, and we lived there together for a little while. So just wanted to add a few things to the post. There are supermarkets in Hong Kong, the major ones are called wellcome, city super (heaps of US vegan food there but they only have two store) and PARKnSHOP.

My all time favourite place is the chi lin nunnery, so much better than the giant buddha, plus an amazing vegetarian restaurant that is under a waterfall. You can read about our adventures here: http://inthemoodfornoodles.blogspot.com/2009/12/hong-kong-home-of-mock-meat-vegan-yum.html

Awesome post! I dragged going to Hong Kong every year to visit family but i am more motivated to know there are vegan options. The amount of meat they consume is insensible! Thanks for the motivation.
