Back in May, we were running around London, eating all the vegan food in sight. We stopped by Vx, an all vegan store and home to the Secret Society of Vegans, where we bought some sweets and SSOV swag. We wrote about visiting Vx but realize not everyone who reads our blog will have a chance to travel to London in the near future (if you do, you have to visit too!). We want to bring a little piece of Vx to you! That’s why we’re so happy to be partnering with Vx to giveaway one of their Secret Society of Vegans shirts.
About SSOV
The Secret Society of Vegans has been producing vegan gear since 2004. It was originally started to raise funds for Pogo Café (London’s not-for-profit vegan restaurant). It became soon after its own independent organisation leaving behind the East London co-op. Since then, the SSOV has grown to expand internationally. With a distribution deal struck in 2006 in North America and a UK mailorder growing steadily, the Secret Society Of Vegans has been getting more and more fans / recruiting agents all around the world.
February 2010 sees the opening of Vx, home of the SSOV in Kings Cross, London. The shop sells clothing, shoes, grocery and fresh cakes / cupcakes. And everything is vegan and mostly fair-trade sourced!

I like the Skull shirt best.
I like the ‘pretty vegan’ t shirt. The colours are amazing – black on pink is high impact and in-your-face, and the fact that its a sex pisols riff (the design) makes being vegan seem edgy and different – which it is. And above all, isn’t being vegan about being ‘pretty’ in the truest sense? How can you be ‘pretty’ with meat or stolen milk in your belly? The t works on so many different levels. Love it.

OK, has to be the red and black with stripes. Red and black are my favorite colors. The design is an eye catcher that pulls you in with a pop. I like the Deep V-Neck Bitter Chocolate shirt. I have decidedly too many t-shirts, and while I’ve never really been a girly-girl, I’m starting to venture into attire that makes me look less like someone who just doesn’t care what they wear, and maybe accentuate a few curves here and there. :)
I must say, I’m glad to see this site/organization. As a vegan for 1.5 years and a vegetarian for 8 years prior to that, traveling and eating out has been an adventure to say the least – and not always a positive experience. I’m glad to find this resource.
If there are any fellow vegan firefighters out there – particularly wildland firefighters – PLEASE hit me up! I’m looking for ways to stay vegan while out on extended assignments. What can I pack in my gear that won’t perish?
