Nice tips and Sermoneta sounds worth checking out, thanks! Perhaps if Martine is still on CS, she might host me or I could meet her when I'm in Italy this May/June. I'm already in love with her kitty!

Hi, Jill! Well, I'm not familiar with the ice cube protocol for strawberry fragolino sparkling wine, as I've never had the opportunity to try any ~ with or without ice. :-( But I say that if that's how you like to drink it then it's perfectly normal to drink it that way! :-)

@laloofah = Thanks for the lovely comment. The glasses in the first picture are filled with strawberry fragolino sparkling wine. I think it's normal to use ice cubes when drinking this, isn't it? Oh well, I like it that way :)

Oh, Sermoneta looks like a storybook place! How enchantingly beautiful! Your posts make me absolutely ache to visit Italy!

Talk about eating locally - your fruit-plucking and snacking sounds wonderful. I remember how thrilled I was to get to eat mangoes, coconuts and starfruit right off the trees in Costa Rica ~ you're so right that it spoils you utterly for buying any of it in grocery stores back home. I've never eaten a freshly picked fig and would love to try one sometime. Truffles would be a new experience too, and I'm intrigued with your description of their flavor.

Are those glasses of wine in the first photo? I'm hoping so, because as a part-Italian who is always given grief because I like ice cubes in my red wine, I will gleefully show your photo to all those who have mocked and tormented me about that for so long! :-)

Martine appears to be incredibly lucky - and she since she sounds like someone who truly appreciates and shares her good fortune and abundance, it's heart-warming to see her blessed with la dolce vita.

Thanks everyone! But, I have to admit, it's not hard to take beautiful pictures of Italy. It's just so gorgeous, you really can't take a bad shot.

@bitt - Gluten free would definitely be tricky. But one of my GF vegan friends did visit Italy and survived :) See the pics:

Sermoneta is a town I was not lucky enough to visit. These eats look unreal. Congrats (however belated) on your first truffle experience!

Thanks for sharing more nonpizza Italian food. I wonder if one could eat there being gluten-free and vegan. I did OK in France but I did my homework.

Cute kitty!
