I'm just reading through your vegan Peru posts now, so glad you had overall positive experiences here. It's not always easy, and I've spent a year in Lima just trying to find some basics like whole wheat flour (found it!). Hence why I started the Vegano Peru website, trying to gather all of the info - restaurants for those of us here, and recipes and vegan-friendly food that might not be obvious to foreigners (some of the odd-looking fruits and veggies, for example.)

Sacha inchi oil is amazing for you, though the taste requires some getting used to. It's best for making soups, rice, and crackers, but be careful - as I'm sure you've found out, the flavor can be intense.

I recently went to Peru, and was blown away by the food there. Its obvious Peru takes pride in their culinary arts. Especially in Lima. So many different kinds of potatoes!

I think Cafe Britt is a Costa Rican company, but I could be wrong. All I know is that I loved those chocolate covered coco beans and we ate them all the time in Costa Rica!

I know what you should do with the oil! Like any good Italian would suggest, put it on crusty bread with a little salt and maybe some balsamic vinegar... mmmmm

I love when the flight attendant arrives at my seat with my special meal while everyone else watches with a quizical expression on their faces. I agree, the meal tends to be a little more interesting, healthy and fresh then what my seat mates feast on. I would hate to suggest that it is haute cuisine but I really appreciate that airlines make the effort to accommodate my needs.

I really enjoyed following along in your travel adventures. Thanks for all the great posts. I hope you enjoy NYC!
