I love the Whole Foods buffet. My favorite is the tofu. They make excellent fried tofu!! My Whole Foods also has some vegan cookies, but no vegan cakes. Probably the best deals in the store can be found in the bulk section. Stocking up on muesli and grains and beans is cheap when you buy them en masse!

As a new vegan, I've relied on Whole Foods for introducing me to the vegan world. It's been helpful when I need to buy things that you just can't get anywhere else. It's not wise to do all your grocery shopping there (unless you are independently wealthy) but for small things and extras, it can't be beat.

Whole Foods in the Boston area has awesome vegan cookies called Dr. Laura's Wholesome Junk Food. Look for them at your Whole Foods - I love the Brownie Bite-lettes.

Great post! It might sound weird, but now I would just like to go grocery-shopping!

I've never been to Whole Foods before, but if I ever come by one of their branches, I'll make it a priority to shop there. There seems to be so many products you cannot find where I live. And Cliff Bar for just 1 dollar! That is such a bargain.

We frequented the buffet at the Las Vegas Whole Foods when we had to stay there a week for an exhibition. We also bought things to make sandwiches with (Tofurky, sprouts) and kept them in a cooler which we filled with ice from the hotel ice machine to keep them cold (there was no fridge in the room). We ate well nomad style!

While Whole Foods can be pricey, it's great for vegans in a strange place.

Really cool post! The Whole Foods in the D.C. Metro area doesn't carry vegan cakes, just a few vegan muffins and one type of vegan scone.

I agree. You can shop Whole Foods on a budget. I do. The 365 brand is very reasonable. When I compare exact items at WF and at traditional groceries WF is usually cheaper!

Nice post! I've said this on my blog, too. You CAN find budget-worthy food at Whole Foods if you shop carefully. Their 365 brand foods (eg. pasta, canned beans) are high quality and well-priced, and they always have specials going on produce. And you've just shown us that even prepared foods can be budget-friendly. (BTW, the vegan brownies are REALLY good.)
