We spent two weeks in London, which sounds like a long time but it went really, really fast. Almost everyday, we discovered vegan treats we’d never come across before. It got to the point where we could no longer buy every new and interesting thing we saw, we had to exercise some willpower to save our budget and waistlines. One of our best finds, in my opinion, was the Rock ‘n’ Roll cones by Tofutti. In Canada, we have a similar treat called Drumsticks made by Nestlé. As an omni kid, I loved eating these in the summer. It was a cold and rainy day when we found the Tofutti cones at the Holland & Barrett near Camden market, selling for about £4.00 GBP ($5.86 USD) for a box of four, but we enjoyed them all the same. This was only one of many sweet things we found in London. Those London vegans sure are lucky!
Health Food Stores
A Break From Restaurants: LifeThyme and Integral Yoga
I enjoy eating at restaurants but also love to cook and have simple meals at home or on the go. While traveling, it can be hard to find a balance between these options. While in New York, there were days when it seemed crazy to eat at a restaurant. Why bother when there are amazing health food stores like LifeThyme Natural Market and Integral Yoga Natural Foods? Both stores are a great place to shop for quality ingredients, interesting snacks, sweet desserts and takeout meals.
Panacea: Canada’s All Vegan Grocery Store
Did you know there’s a vegan grocery store in Canada? Panacea in Toronto, Ontario is an all vegan grocery store that’s actually bigger than Food Fight in Portland, Oregon. It’s been around for two years but I visited it for the first time in April. They have tons of vegan food, cookbooks, body care products and clothing. And everything is vegan! I couldn’t take pictures of everything in the store but did manage to make note of some of the most interesting vegan finds.
Shopping for Vegan Food in Buenos Aires
For a city that prides its self on steak and other animal delicacies, Buenos Aires is surprisingly veg-friendly. Vegans will have no trouble finding lots of new and familiar foods to eat when shopping at local stores, supermarkets, health food stores and in Chinatown.
